We successfully finished our 6 months stint at Crossroads Lounge, Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur on the 31st July 2011.

And August 2011 is fasting month and we all decided not to take any contract but instead we played 4 nights gig at IP MAN BAR, TAMAN TUN DR.ISMAIL. We only perform from Wednesday to Saturday. Our last night performing there will be on 27 August 2011 (Saturday).

Owh ya, we also changed one of our band members (again)... this time we'd like to welcome Jhazmine De Silva. She's the youngest in the band and also she hails from Philippines. For those who doesn't know her, she is married to Allan Hugh De Silva, one of the manager working at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur....

With the new member, from 30 AUGUST 2011 onwards, B'TRU BAND will be performing at PATIO, FIRST WORLD HOTEL, GENTING HIGHLANDS.

It is also the 1st day of HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI, so we'd like to take this opportunity to wish our good friends and ~~haters~~ followers and also all our families, SELAMAT MENYAMBUT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI, MAAF ZAHIR DAN BATIN. Since we'll be working on the 1st day of Hari Raya, hopefully that y'all remember us when y'all makan ketupat and rendang and all the kuih kuih raya! Huhuhu...

Some of you who doesn't know the history of the band, the word B'TRU comes from BREAKTHRU. We were previously known as BREAKTHRU when we were all FILIPINO band (except Nina) from the year 2000 till 2004. We shorten it to B'TRU when we changed our band members to all local MALAYSIANs (except James).

SO PLEASE REMEMBER, we are B'TRU not BEAT THRU.

Its just the same if your name is NINA but i call you NINJA TURTLE wtf!

i know i know it's already the 24th day of 2011 today, but i guess it's better to wish late than never right?

B'Tru Band would like to wish all our fans and friends and family a very happy new year. Hopefully this year will bring you happiness, success and filled with Peace,Hope & Togetherness of your Family & Friends.

Here's a little update of B'Tru Band.

LAKE VIEW CLUB

We're still performing at Lake View Club Subang Jaya till the end of January 2011. We would love to say thank you to the management for having us performing for 6 months. Also thank you to the staffs for taking care of our food and beverage. And not forgetting to the regulars and friends who kept supporting the club and the band. We hope our friendship doesn't end here.

BELLA

Bella has decided to continue her studies and her last day performance with the band was on the NEW YEAR'S EVE. We would like to say thanks to Bella for staying with the band since mid June 2010. Let's all pray for her success with her future undertakings.

HANY

Bella has been replaced by Hany, an experienced singer since the 1st of January 2011.

NINA

Nina has given birth to a lovely baby girl on the 8th of December 2010. Both baby and mother are healthy. Nina is expected to join the group again in February 2011.

CONCORDE KUALA LUMPUR

The band will start at Crossroads Lounge, Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur on the 1st of February 2011. The line up this time will be 3 girls on vocals (Nina, Maricel & Hany) and 2 boys (James on vocals and Wan on keyboard). We excited to meet our friends in concorde hotel again. And hopefully friends from Lake View Club can/will drop by and party with us!!!

We'd like to thank all the regulars of Bixby for keep supporting the pub and the band.

Havana Club, Nina and Lake View Club

Update 1

B'Tru Band is still performing at Havana Club, Tropicana Golf Club in PJ until end of this month. It's open to public and everyone is welcome to watch us performing from Monday to Saturday.

Update 2

After searching high and low for an experienced singer to replace Nina who is pregnant 17 weeks, we've found a girl who's new in singing scene BUT willing to be ~~tortured~~ trained by the experienced members of B'Tru Band.

So, NINA's last day performing with the band will be TONIGHT, Friday 16 July 2010 at Havana Club. She'll be taking a break until she decided to come back singing in the band again which is sometime middle of next year!

B'Tru Band's contract at Crossroads Lounge ends on the eve of 2010!

After 3 months surviving performing at a crazy-hectic-happening place, we'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the MANAGEMENT of CONCORDE HOTEL KUALA LUMPUR for having us back after 2 years since we last worked in 2007.

Thank you to Mr. Lee - the GM and also Mr. Andreas Knussi and not forgetting Mr. Bhadrul Hisham for giving us 3 months of Great Time at Crossroads!

And also thank you to ALL the staffs who's been taking care of our food & beverage needs at Crossroads & Melting Pot.

And not forgetting the Sales Department, especially to Encik Nordin & Ms. Julini for giving us the 2010 calendar with a full page of James sleeping in the month of December! (how come u took my picture many-many one, but i'm not in the calendar... hahaha???)

On the Eve of 2010, marked the date where we did a mini-show combined with the other 2 bands, Peach Apple Tree and D'Art which performed side-by-side with B'Tru Band. Thanks to the 2 bands who were awesome to work with!

The show were a HUGE success. (i just found out the sales on the eve of 2010 were extremely bigger than the new year's eve celebration of 2009)....

Ideas mainly given by James, and also some contributed ideas from each and everyone of the members of ALL the bands!!!

Starting 1st December 2009, a new girl named SHASHA will help the band thruout the month of December 2009. She's a fresh new singer who's still studying at Akademi Seni Kebangsaan aka ASWARA.

We would like to inform that Nur Anuar, female vocalists of B'Tru Band has finally decided to leave the band due to her FAILURE to commit 100% to the band.

It's her own decision, as she chose to work in a legal firm during the day.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF DEATH

JAMES SUMILANG, band leader is sad to report the death of his father LUCRECIO SUMILANG, who died on November 7, 2009, after 24 hours of battle in ICU. He was 83 years old. He will be sorely missed by friends and family.

James will be flying back to the Philippines on Monday 9th November and will be coming back the following day!

B'Tru band will still be performing at Crossroads Lounge as usual, but James will be replaced by another male vocalist.

After rushing practicing for Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur's contract in October, we were struggling at the beginning, but now, after working together since August and September, we've got our groove back...

Performing in Crossroads Lounge, Concord Hotel

Due to the delay of the arrival of the band from Philippines in Concorde Hotel, we get the chance to (replace) perform at Crossroads Lounge Concord Hotel for 3 days, starting last Wednesday 5th August till 7th August 2009 (Friday).

The response from the crowd were awesome.

We performed our hearts out (as usual) and we had soooo much fun for the short 3 nights (so sad Seri couldn't perform with us on Friday cos she was sick and we told her to quarantine herself and replaced by INTAN)....

And the great news is that THE MANAGEMENT HAS DECIDED TO GIVE US CONTRACT TO PERFORM AT CROSSROADS LOUNGE IN OCTOBER 2009 TILL END DECEMBER 2009.

SO TO ALL KL & PJ PEOPLE, SEE YOU AT CONCORDE IN OCTOBER!!!

1st day of KURSUS at KARYAWAN

We were informed last Sunday to bring our music instruments to perform a couple of songs. Sham, our keyboardist, couldn't make it on that day, so it was only the 3 of us.

There were supposed to be another 3 people (frontlines too) joining us, but somehow it was only our band who were there.

Our observer/lecturer was ABANG KUDIN.

After setting up our gadgets and mics, we did a little warm-up singing. While we were warming up, the speakers started to gave a screeching sound.

When it's time to start our kursus, James started 1st by singing the song "FOREVER" by Kenny Loggins, and the two of us just standing next to James. It was like how we perform nightly. When James finished singing, Abang Kudin asked Seri and me what do we do when James is singing slow songs? Do we play any tambourines or shaker? We said - NO. I mean we have tambourines but since we work using sequencer, sometimes the tambourine sounds louder than the music. We always avoid using tambourine. So abang kudin advised us to buy a tambourine with the skin so we can make it like a snare!!! Hmmm... great idea. POINT TAKEN!

After that, James sang "SEPTEMBER" by Earth Wind & Fire. Seri and me, as usual we did our dancing for the song.

After that, we wanted to continue singing, but the speakers are not working very well. It kept giving out a sound of screeching.

So we had to end our singing. Then we chatted, shared some ideas, asked questions, get answers, gave opinions etc etc etc with abg Kudin. It was a short session. By 3:45pm we finished our 1st day Kursus.

NEXT - We have to go for dance classes at Linda Jasmine's studio in Ampang.

AND EVERYTHING IS FREE..... :D

Karyawan & KURSUS PROGRAM AKREDITASI ARTIS DAN PEMUZIK KELAB DAN HOTEL TEMPATAN

We have been called to go for a course for musicians (especially bands performing nightly in clubs/lounges) in Karyawan yesterday.

So at 2pm, Sunday 12 July 2009, James, Seri and me were at Karyawan to attend this-so-called-special-courses-for-musicians (i didn't get what's the purpose for the courses at first).

After 1 hour 15 minutes of waiting, Encik Satiman (karyawan representative) called us to go inside a room.

There were 2 bands - B'Tru and FreeMind (Mizi's band).

Kudin - a famous fellow musician in the music industry briefed us about the program frm Karyawan and KURSUS PROGRAM AKREDITASI ARTIS DAN PEMUZIK KELAB DAN HOTEL TEMPATAN.

Basically it's about hal hal kebajikan musicians being taken care/supported by the government.

There will be a few stages of courses. Being a musicians they know that musicians have restricted time and always wake up late (not me though).

The band will be graded - A, B or C.

But before being evaluate by the government, the band has to be evaluated by some of the lecturers selected by Karyawan. Some of the lecturers are musicians, choreographers, image consultants, lawyers etc etc.... people who can guide us, the musicians.

We, BTRU Band strongly believed it's a good move.

It's about time that we musicians being supported by the government.

For a start, the band will be going for it's 1st day course which is tomorrow, Tuesday 14 July 2009, at 2pm in Karyawan.

It will be a casual performance from the band to let the lecturers see what we have been doing!

From there, they will guide us for our next courses which will involved dancing, grooming, character etc etc etc....

Would love to tell more about the programme but it'll be best if i go for the course 1st tomorrow to get more ideas....

Just got some news today that maybe Sham (keyboardist) won't be long with us!

So we might be selecting again a new guitarist/keyboardist for the band....

It might be someone new OR maybe someone who has worked with us before (definitely NOT andy!)....

Hahaha...

I accidentally changed the password to the old blog's password and somehow i've forgotten what's the new password.... haish.... silly me.... my bad!

BTW - since Andy has left the group and replaced by a more talented musician by the name of SHAM (can play guitar, keyboards, sing, dance, programming, editing, and having his own catfish farming business), i think it's best to also create a new blog!!! hahahaa....

There are some new plans for the band (which we're still doing brainstorming). Do keep coming back to this blog to know further!
